Are you exploring the possibility of buying a home in Taverham or Thorpe Marriott?
Let's take Taverham first.
Taverham is just 6 miles from Norwich's city centre and can be reached in 20 minutes by car via the A1067. There are also good public transportation links, with regular bus services to and from the city centre.
Taverham is located on the north side of the River Wensum and boasts a beautiful parish church, dedicated to St Edmund and built mainly from flint. The church dates back to Saxon times and is listed in the Domesday Book. In 1951, before Thorpe Marriott was added, Taverham had a population of 700, which grew to over 6,000 by 1990. Now, Taverham is a desirable location for those looking to buy a home and is especially popular with young families.
Taverham has a range of amenities, including local shops, schools, parks, and recreational areas. There are also several historic buildings and landmarks in the village, including Taverham Hall, a 17th-century country house that has been converted into apartments.
Taverham is also home to The Taverham Brass Band, which was formed in 1974 by a small group of villagers and is still going strong today. This well-known brass band provides entertainment across Norfolk and all the members are volunteers who play their instruments to raise money for many local charities. If you've ever fancied playing the trumpet then move to Taverham and join the band!
Overall, Taverham is a charming and desirable place to live, with a rich history, attractive local scenery, and a strong sense of community.
Thorpe Marriott
Thorpe Marriott is located approximately 6 miles northwest of the city centre of Norwich and is a suburb of the nearby village of Taverham. Thorpe Marriott has evolved from an area known as "Area X" in the early 1980s into a popular residential area for families.
Thorpe Marriott is known for its modern housing developments, parks, and recreational areas, making it an attractive location for families looking for a suburban lifestyle. The area also has good transport links to the city centre of Norwich, with easy access via the A1067 road and regular bus services.
Although Thorpe Marriott doesn't have the history that Taverham boasts, such as an old paper mill that produced bank notes, bibles, and "The Times" newspaper, it still offers a lovely place to live.
Both Taverham and Thorpe Marriott enjoy being close to the city of Norwich as well as the surrounding countryside which provides plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities and family-friendly attractions.
